Mona Augusta Manning, 85, of Oak Ridge, passed away peacefully Thursday, Feb. 7, at Methodist Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 9, 1927, in Chattanooga, one of six children born to Robert and Mona Warters Manning.
She was a long time member and organist at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and active with various church guilds. Miss Manning served as a Dominican sister and teacher for over 30 years. She loved music and was a master organist. She enjoyed crocheting and the many valued friendships made over the years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Robert Manning, Francis Doub, Jack Manning, William Manning, and Peggy Vincent.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
The family received friends on Monday, Feb. 11, from 10 a.m.–1 p.m. and will also receive friends Monday evening from 4 to 6:30 p.m. with a Rosary Service at 6:30 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary.
The family will receive friends also on Tuesday from 11:30 a.m.–1 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church followed by the Funeral Mass at 1 p.m. with Rev. John Appiah, Rev. Michael Woods, Rev. Bede Aboh, and Msgr. Bob Hofstetter officiating.
Private inurnment services will be held at a later date when her ashes are placed in St. Mary’s Columbarium.
The family asks that any memorials be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church Music Ministry or to your local Humane Society.
