An Oak Ridge woman suffered possible injuries in a rollover accident on South Lansing Road on Sunday night.

Terry Beth Matthews, 48, was using her shoulder and lap belt and was not ejected, but she was taken by ambulance to Methodist Medical Center after her 2004 Toyota Camry rolled near Latimer Road at about 8:55 p.m. Sunday, an Oak Ridge Police Department crash report said.

Matthews was outside the vehicle, which was on its roof, when police and fire units arrived. Her passenger, Richard L. Sweeden, 48, of Kingston, was not injured, but he had left the scene.

Matthews said another vehicle had run her off the road and left the scence, the crash report said. It said Matthews’ car struck a 2002 Jeep Cherokee and 2002 Oldsmobile Bravada legally parked in on-street parking.

The crash report said a witness had observed a white vehicle in the area operating in an unsafe manner and heard squealing tires and a collision. The witness walked up the road and saw Matthews’ car on its roof, the report said.

The witness’ statement was consistent with what Matthews said, Oak Ridge Police Officer Christopher W. Wallace wrote in the report.

Police later arrested Sweeden on an outstanding warrant on Lancaster Road.
