The Boys Club Alumni Association will host its first annual Christmas party on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club of Oak Ridge.
Alumni members will help with the annual Christmas tree sales on the baseball field in front of the building, a press release said.
“We will be selling barbecue and trees this year in an effort to help raise money for the club,†Boys Club Alumni President Aaron Wells said.
Along with the barbecue, there will be bluegrass music and horseshoes to accompany the festivities. The alumni have a rich tradition of storytelling, which will be led this year primarily by the Boys and Girls Club’s “founding father,” Lawrence Hahn, the release said.
Baxter Underwood, Butch Shelton, and James Powers are also scheduled to make an appearance at this year’s event and are sure to entertain the crowd with their life lessons on growing up at the Boys Club.
“Come on down and share in the holiday festivities with Mr. Hahn and many other long time Oak Ridgers,” Wells said. “It will be a great time for all and the proceeds go towards the club.”
He said the public is invited to this family event as are those who are former club members as well as anyone who “enjoys good barbecue and still needs a tree for Christmas.”
