Jesse Mack Patterson, age 63, a resident of Harriman, passed away Friday, Oct. 12, at his home.
Mr. Patterson was born March 25, 1949, in Oliver Springs. He grew up in the Stephens Community in Morgan County, and he lived in Coalfield for several years before moving to Harriman.
Jesse was a residential construction and building contractor before his disability. He loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed digging ginseng and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henion Patterson and Marie Lowe Patterson McCrary; by a brother, Glenn Patterson; and by Milton Simmons, whom he considered as his father.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Virginia Potter Patterson of Harriman; by a daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Scott Coker of Oliver Springs; by a son and daughter-in-law, William and Patricia Patterson of Harriman; and by grandchildren, Nathaniel Lewis Coker, Zachary Coker, Rodney Coker, Abbey Patterson, and Angelica Davis.
Jesse has three sisters, Glenda Lay of Oak Ridge, Mary Ruth Smith of Ten Mile, and Shirley McKinney and husband Steve of Harriman; by two brothers, Lenn Patterson and wife Betty of Oliver Springs, and Jerry Patterson of Harriman; and by several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and special friends, including a friend whom he considered as a brother, Lonnie Lloyd.
The family received friends Monday, Oct. 15, between 6 and 8 p.m. at Beech Park Baptist Church. The funeral followed at 8 p.m., with pastor Robbie Leach officiating.
Burial and graveside services were held Tuesday, Oct. 16, at 11 a.m. at Anderson Memorial Gardens.
