Alan Scott Harris, age 51, of Oak Ridge, passed away Friday, Oct. 12, at the Methodist Medical Center.
He was born June 12, 1961, in Key West, Fla., the son of Jack and Shirley Hillis Harris.
Mr. Harris was a longtime employee of Wal-Mart. He was a deacon of New York Avenue Church of Christ. He also served on the board and several committees of the Marlow Volunteer Fire Department. He was a former board member of CASA and served the community on hundreds of VORP cases.
Mr. Harris was also an avid Wildcat fan and served on the Oak Ridge High School Football Boosters.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by brother, Jack Sherrill Harris, Jr. and grandson, Ja’Kai Wooden.
He is survived by his wife Kelly Hayes Harris, with whom he would have celebrated their 29th anniversary on Feb. 4; son, A. J. Harris and his wife Bobbie Michelle Harris; daughter, Ashlen Harris Wooden and husband Chris Wooden Sr.; mother, Shirley Harris; brother, Bobby Joe Harris; and three grandchildren, Malaki Fowler, Kyra Fowler, and Christopher Ka’lil Wooden Jr.
The family received friends Monday, Oct. 15, from 5-7 p.m. at the New York Avenue Church of Christ. A memorial service followed at 7 p.m. with Harold Scott and Jason Kyser officiating.
The family asks that any memorials be made to the New York Avenue Church of Christ Thursday Bible School Program.
