Harvey Lee Ferguson, age 65, a resident of Oliver Springs, passed away Monday, Oct. 1, at his home.
Harvey was born Sept. 4, 1947, in Winston County, Ala. He had lived in Oliver Springs since 1970.
Before his retirement, he was employed as an electrician for Tennessee Valley Authority at the Bull Run Steam Plant for 35 years.
Harvey served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. While serving, he received several medals, commendations, ribbons, and citations.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Phillips Ferguson; by parents, Elbert Lee Ferguson and Ida Louise Banks Ferguson; by brothers, Starlin Ferguson and Harlan “Speedy” Ferguson; by sisters; Janet Harvill, Doris Bowling, and Ivory Phillips; and by a sister-in-law, Nora Ferguson.
He is survived by his children, Allen Ferguson and wife Joanna, Annette Russell and husband Shannon, Tammy Ferguson, Christopher Ferguson and wife Kara, and Christina Ferguson, all of Oliver Springs; by grandchildren. Tabitha and husband Shawn, Samantha and husband Chris, Tosha and husband Jeffrey, Shaun and wife Kate, Jonathan and wife April, Justin, Ashley, Larry, James, Nora, and Codie; and by several great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by a brother, Marvin Ferguson and wife Linda of Alabama; by a sister, Hilda Mason and husband Wint of Alabama; and by several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
The family will receive friends Friday, Oct. 5, between 6 and 8 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor David Burchfield officiating.
Burial and graveside services will be held Saturday, Oct. 6, at 1 p.m. at the Petros Cemetery.
