Ancil Theodore “Ted” Bowling, age 62, a resident of Oliver Springs, passed away Monday, Sept. 24, at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge.
Ted was born July 19, 1950, in Elizabethtown, Ky. He had lived in Oliver Springs since early childhood.
Ted was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and a member of the Cedar Hill Baptist Church. However, he attended Beech Park Baptist Church.
Before his disability, he was employed as a grocery store manager, at French’s Market and the IGA Galaxy of Oliver Springs. He also owned and operated T & L Foods in Oliver Springs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ancil and Helen Bowling; by a grandson, Bryson Goodman; and by his mother-in-law, Mary McCarty Murphy.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Vickie Lynn Bowling of Oliver Springs; by daughters, Whitney Butler and husband Dewayne of Oliver Springs, Brandi Goodman and husband Byron of Madisonville, Tenn., and Maryann Evans and husband Kenny of Oliver Springs; by a son, Charles Johnson and wife Lisa of Oliver Springs; and by grandchildren, Autumn, Brady, and Grayson Phillips, McKinzie Goodman, Tyler, Lane, and Savanna Evans, and Charles, Kayla, and Lexie Johnson.
Ted is also survived by sisters, Glenda Jones and husband Vern of Oliver Springs, Paulette Buck of Oliver Springs, Elqueta West and husband Darrell of Oliver Springs, Wilma Bass and husband Warren of Oliver Springs, and Patricia Davies of England; by brothers, Gary Bowling and wife Brenda of Clinton, and Perry Bowling and wife Betty of Oliver Springs; and by several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and special friends.
The family received friends Friday, Sept. 28, between 6 and 8 p.m. at Beech Park Baptist Church in Oliver Springs. The funeral followed in the church at 8 p.m., with Pastor Robbie leach officiating.
Burial and graveside services were held Saturday, Sept. 29, at 11 a.m. at the Cedar Hill Cemetery.
