The former probationary police officer arrested Wednesday morning is alleged to have sent sexual messages to a woman through a social networking site, and he is accused of threatening to “get even” when she refused to text or swap pictures, according to court records.

Travis Lee Adcock, 30, of Coalfield, was arrested Wednesday morning, the Oak Ridge Police Department said. He is charged with civil rights intimidation and harassment.

Adcock allegedly contacted an Oak Ridge woman through meetme.com, sending her messages of a “sexual nature,” according to arrest warrants filed Wednesday morning in Anderson County General Sessions Court. He allegedly continued to send her sexual messages until he requested a picture.

“When the victim refused to text or ‘swap pictures,’ the defendant replied, ‘Ok I’ll get even,'” according to an affidavit filed by Oak Ridge Police Detective Kevin Craig.

The victim asked what that meant, Craig said.

Adcock, posting as Travis Cox on meetme.com, allegedly replied, “I am a cop hope you like tickets all I wanted was a pic.”

The victim then responded “Ha! Oh okay. In oak ridge right?” the affidavit said.

“It wont be me im not that dumb but you will pay,” Adcock replied, according to the affidavit.

Craig said the victim reported feeling upset, and she has driven less because she is afraid she might be pulled over.

Craig said his investigation included interviews and reviews of text messages and records printed from meetme.com.

Adcock was an Oak Ridge probationary police officer from March 2011 to September 2011. A probationary police officer is a new officer who hasn’t completed his or her initial 12-month probationary period.

The ORPD press release said the department started investigating Adcock this month.

It said Adcock was taken into custody at the Oak Ridge Police Department on Wednesday morning without incident, and he was taken to the Anderson County Detention Facility.

“The investigation remains in an active status and no further information will be released at this time,” the release said.

A court hearing for Adcock has been scheduled at 9 a.m. Sept. 4.

More information will be added as it becomes available.
