Wilma Jean Farr

Wilma Jean Farr, age 78, a resident of Coalfield, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 22, at the home of her daughter, Jeanette Montgomery.

Mrs. Farr was born June 25, 1934, in the Lower Camp of Windrock Mountain. In her early childhood, the family moved to Coalfield, where she continued to live throughout her life.

She retired in 1998 as a seamstress, following employment at Allied Chemical, Roane Hosiery, and Greenbrier Inc. Her hobbies included crocheting, reading, and working crossword puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Farr Sr.; by parents, Edgar and Blanch Freels Halburnt; by a daughter, Brenda Sue Farr; by a grandson, Bobby Joe Farr; by sisters, June Floyd, Ruby Halburnt, and Edna Walls; and by brothers, Edgar Halbert Jr. and John Halburnt.

Mrs. Farr is survived by sons, Jimmy Farr Jr. and wife Pamela of Coalfield, and Joseph Farr of Coalfield; by daughters, Jeanette Montgomery and husband Robert of Coalfield, Barbara Joyce Rich and husband Eddie of Wartburg, and Janet Thompson and husband Randy of Oak Ridge; by grandchildren, Jimmy E. Farr II, Billy E. Farr, Joseph H. Farr, Stacy L. Braden, Brenda S. Jones, Tamara L. Bunch, Robert B. Montgomery, Christina P. Jones, Michael S. Rich, Eddie J. Rich Jr., Brittany M. Thompson, and Bill R. Thompson; and by 19 great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by a sister, Cleopatra Brown of Oliver Springs; by brothers, Clyde Halburnt and wife Ola of Oliver Springs, Floyd Halburnt and wife Youngnae of Old Hickory, Tenn., Clarence Halburnt and wife Carol of Helenwood, Tenn., and James Halburnt and wife Barbara of Mt. Juliet; and by several nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

The family will receive friends Friday, Aug. 24, between 6 and 8 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Chaplin Thomas Rayford officiating.

Burial and graveside services will be held Saturday, Aug. 25, at 11 a.m. at the Davis Cemetery in Coalfield.
