Russel Charles Blevins

Russel Charles Blevins, age 85, of Kingston, died Sunday, Aug. 12, at his home.

He was born Oct. 8, 1926, in Rhea County, one of 12 children born to Callie Kathryn Walker Blevins and Walden Ervin Blevins.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy. Mr. Blevins retired from Martin Marietta Energy Systems, where he was an engineer.

He was an avid ham radio operator known as K4ECW. He enjoyed tinkering with computers, and he faithfully attended exercise classes.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Martha Jane Blevins, in 2009, and by son, Jamie C. Blevins, and grandchildren, Deborah Williams and Scott Blevins.

He is survived by son, George E. Blevins and his wife Linda of Lenoir City; daughter, Sara J. Luksic and husband Mark of Spring City; daughter-in-law, Ann Blevins of Tellico Village; brothers, Ralph Blevins and wife Joy of Crossville, and Charles Blevins of Murfreesboro; sisters, Ethel Mize, Margie Kaylor, Fay Hall and husband Billy Joe, and Joyce Ceralo and husband Bill, all of Dayton, and Ruby Goodwin and husband Bill of Chattanooga; grandchildren, David Blevins and wife Penny of Johnson City, Steve Blevins and wife Martina of Knoxville, and Karen Sue Franklin of Spring City; nine great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, Aug. 16, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary. The funeral will follow at 7 p.m. with Bishop Billy McCool and Pastor Mark McCool officiating.

A graveside service will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at Anderson Memorial Gardens.An online guest book can be signed at www.weatherfordmortuary.com.
