Thomas Milo Jelinek, age 71, of Oak Ridge, died Friday, Aug. 3, at Methodist Medical Center.
He was born June 17, 1941, in New Prague, Minn., the son of Myles F. and Elsie Cecka Jelinek.
Mr. Jelinek retired from the U.S. Department of Energy, where he was a health physicist. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Jelinek enjoyed boating and spending time at the lake.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his brother, Frank Jelinek.
He is survived by wife of 45 years, Kathleen Mattson Jelinek; father, Myles F. Jelinek of Oak Ridge; daughters, Jennifer Lawson and husband Jeffrey, and Michelle Stewart and husband Steve; and six grandchildren, Hailey Lawson, William Lawson, Myles Lawson, Jenna Stewart, Nathan Stewart, and Ryan Stewart, all of Kingston.
The family will receive friends on Friday, Aug. 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary. A Rosary Service will follow at 8 p.m.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. Bede Aboh officiating. The entombment of ashes will follow in the church columbarium.
The family asks that any memorials be in the form of contributions to St. Mary’s School or the East Tennessee Children’s Hospital.
