Sharon C. “Skeeter” Patterson, age 77, of Middletown, Ohio, formerly of Clinton, passed away Friday, July 13, at home with his family by his side.
He was born August 3, 1934, in Clinton, the son of the late Dorsey and Violet (Swehla) Patterson.
He served in the U.S. Army for two years and retired from the National Guard Reserves after 22 years of service.
He was a well driller by trade, drilling wells in Tennessee and Iowa, and he owned his own drilling company in Ohio. He served as a volunteer fireman in Tama, Iowa, and was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W., and Moose Lodge. He was an avid bowler, longtime pheasant hunter, and enjoyed shooting pool, and he was a NASCAR fan and member of the Packard Auto Club.
Preceding him in death were his first wife, Mildred Patterson; three brothers, Billy, Wallace, and Joe; and a step-daughter, Jennifer Huff.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Patterson; daughter, Debbie Metzler, and husband A.J.; three grandchildren, Larry Riddle, Reagan Metzler and Ryan Metzler; sister, Virginia Rose; step-daughters, Tammy Orner and Jodi Brewer, and husband Jack; and 11 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Skeeter will be greatly missed by his many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Skeeter’s family will receive friends on Friday, July 20, from 11 a.m. to noon in the chapel of Jones Mortuary in Clinton with his Celebration of Life Service following at noon. Skeeter’s interment will follow his Celebration of Life service at Patterson Family Cemetery in the Dutch Valley Community with full military honors.

Herr-Riggs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements in Ohio and Jones Mortuary in Clinton is in charge of all local arrangements.
