Anderson County Democrats are having a public rally and picnic at 6:30 p.m. today to celebrate the start of early voting Friday.

The rally and picnic have been moved from Gibbs Ferry Park to the Claxton Elementary School cafeteria because of the weather.

A press release said the rally will feature barbecue by Vernon’s Burnin’s and will be sponsored by three Democratic candidates in the Aug. 2 election:  Warren Gooch, running for Anderson County mayor; Jim Hackworth, campaigning to take back his old seat in the Tennessee House of Representatives in the 33rd District; and Rick Marlowe, running for Anderson County property assessor.

Special music at the get-out-the vote rally will be provided by Tom Beehan and his band, the Ridge City Ramblers, the release said.
