Virgil William Cox, age 88, of Oak Ridge passed away on Saturday, June 23, at his residence.
Virgil was born on July 3, 1923, in Heiskell to the late Harrison Cox and Idella Curnutt.
Virgil was a hard working mechanic, a true honest man that set the standard for integrity and kindness. Virgil was always willing to help those in need and was easy to please. He loved bluegrass music and playing the harmonica. He also enjoyed spending time with his son Scott sightseeing. You rarely saw one without the other in Scott’s little red Dakota.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Ann LaMance, Pauline Hensley, Frankie Scarbrough, and Estelle Cox
His survivors include his son, Anthony Scott Cox, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Virgil’s family will receive his friends on Tuesday, June 26, from 5–7 p.m. at Jones Mortuary. Virgil’s graveside service will follow his visitation at the Cox Cemetery in Clinton with Bro. Aaron Mack officiating.
