Local and state officials, business leaders, and family and friends celebrate the opening of Health by Design Chiropractic on Emory Valley Road on Friday afternoon.

A new chiropractic office has opened on Emory Valley Road.

Local and state officials, business leaders, and family and friends celebrated Friday afternoon with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new business, Health by Design Chiropractic.

Health by Design offers chiropractic care and trigger point therapy, owner and doctor Caleb Runne said Monday.

Chiropractors use trigger point therapy to work with damaged muscle tissue, and Runne said he is the only doctor in Tennessee who practices a type of chiropractic care known as knee chest upper cervical specific.

“We’re looking for the origin of pain or illness,” said Runne, a 30-year-old first-time business owner. “Instead of looking for the symptoms, we’re looking for the cause.”

Health by Design opened May 14. It’s open from 9 a.m. to noon and from 2 to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 9 a.m. to noon Friday.

Runne said most insurance plans now cover chiropractic care, and his office also accepts Medicare.

Before opening the Oak Ridge office, Runne practiced for four years with another doctor at Pain and Health Solutions in Maryville.

His wife, Glenda, also works at Health by Design, helping with administrative work, Runne said.
