Roane Chamber Business Awards

The Roane County Chamber of Commerce on Friday presented its annual business awards for 2013 before a crowd of community and business leaders attending the Chamber’s 67th Annual Banquet at Whitestone Country Inn.

The awards included:

  • Chamber Ambassador of the Year—Rose Meza, of Harriman Care and Rehab;
  • Business of the Year—Foust Family Fitness, of Kingston;
  • Paul E. Goldberg Young Professional Award—Brantley Rivers, president of Acme Brick and Block;
  • Roane Chamber Woman of the Year—Gail Lyke, of First Bank of Tennessee; and
  • Distinguished Service Award—Paul Cowell, of Whitestone Country Inn.

Roane Chamber has career day for high school juniors

The Roane County Chamber of Commerce is having its Fifth Annual High Schools Career Day on Friday.

Roughly 475 high school juniors and about 50 businesses are expected to participate in the career day, scheduled to be held in the Roane State Community College gymnasium. Every 11th grade student in the five Roane County high schools will attend, organizers said. [Read more…]

Roane Chamber and SBDC announce business entrepreneur workshops

The Roane County Chamber of Commerce and the Tennessee Small Business Development Center at Roane State Community College have joined together to offer three free workshops for entrepreneurs who are considering or have recently started their own business.

The two-hour workshops are scheduled for March 7, March 21, and April 11, from 1-3 p.m. at The Roane Alliance.

Roane Alliance: 2012 the ‘busiest and most productive ever’

The Roane Alliance has released its most recent annual report, and it called 2012 the “busiest and most productive year ever.”

Roane Alliance officials said they will remember 2012 as the year of the Volkswagen Distribution Center project.

But it was also a year of many other accomplishments, said Alliance President and Chief Executive Officer Leslie Henderson.

KINGSTON—The Roane County Chamber of Commerce is looking for rising high school juniors to participate in this summer’s Roane County Youth Leadership Academy.

Students from the five Roane County high schools and home school are invited to submit their application to attend the academy, which is scheduled for the week of June 3-7. The week-long academy is held at Roane State Community College.

“The Chamber recognizes that our area’s youth hold the key to our future, and the program has been structured to encourage our youth to become leaders in our community,” said Kathy Parks, chair of the Chamber’s Leadership Committee.
