I am the most handsome Smokey and very pettable two-year old neutered male.

They tell me that my eyes are magnetic and will pull you in…is it working for you? I was surrendered with my two siblings, and that makes my heart hurt. But it can be mended when you scoop me up and promise me forever. Will you?

I am Binx, and I am just so sad to be at the shelter. I am just eight months old and cannot understand the lonely steel walls of a cage. That’s no life for a little kitty like me. Will you rescue me?

Intake: 2/3

Chunk here—just about the friendliest guy you’ll meet!

They called me Chunk ’cause I’m such a chunky muscle boy. I’m a young male American Bulldog mix.

I will probably be a special needs pup due to some issues with my spine, but it doesn’t stop me from getting around now, for sure! [Read more…]

Oak Ridge Animal Shelter

The Oak Ridge Animal Shelter on Belgrade Road is pictured above.

The Anderson County Operations Committee has endorsed setting up a task force to examine the possibility of an animal shelter in the county, a press release said.

That should be good news for Oak Ridge, where there has been at least some concern about the housing of animals from outside Oak Ridge at the city’s animal shelter and the costs of doing so.

“Anderson County has had a strong, long-standing relationship with the Oak Ridge Animal Shelter over the years and continues that solid, working partnership,” Anderson County Mayor Terry Frank said in a press release. “However, as their shelter has moved more towards the housing and adoption of animals, the available contracted space for county animals has diminished. This is sweet Donahue. He was in foster care but has now made a return to the shelter.

I can woo even the most stubborn person with my beautiful blue eyes! I’m Katie, a Siberian Husky mix who has just had a bunch of puppies. The kids are on their own now, though, so on Friday, January 30, I became available.

I’m about two years old (estimated), and am house-trained and good with cats.

I had been wandering around the “W” streets in Oak Ridge until a beautiful lady brought me in and let me have my puppies. [Read more…]

I am a beautiful black and tan coonhound—named Hercules, of course—cause I’m such a marvelous specimen of a good dog.

When I came in, I had apparently had it out with a coon or two, but that just means I’ve been a great hunter for my owner. I’m super super friendly, and would love to be in your yard, or in your lap. I am available!

Fee is sponsored at 50 percent! (AS/AB) [Read more…]

Ivan can’t figure out why no one loves him. We showed him some love and made him the Cat of the Day for Thursday.

We hope one of you out there will show him he’s loved by adopting him. That would be the ultimate gift, the gift of a forever home of his own.

He’s a complete lovebug that would love a home where he is the only feline. He’s been waiting for the right person to come along and sweep him off his feet. Your reward will be unconditional love, gratitude, and head butts. Pretty sweet deal if you ask us. [Read more…]

Well, if you have a heart for the more senior, then I am your girl.

I am Barbie, a sweet female who needs some TLC to make me feel very special. I deserve so much more than a steel cage of cold walls to live out my days.
