News Sentinel court reporter to speak at Lunch with the League

News Sentinel court reporter Jamie Satterfield will discuss her struggles as a female covering crime during the past 24 years in a Tuesday talk at “Lunch with the League.”

Satterfield’s talk is titled “A Man’s Game.” It starts at noon Tuesday in the Social Hall of the Oak Ridge Unitarian Universalist Church.

Engineer to discuss idea of using giant photovoltaic mirrors in space

An Oak Ridge engineer on Tuesday will discuss a proposal to use giant mirrors in space to produce power, reduce exposure from the sun’s rays, and lower temperatures on Earth.

Tetra Tech engineer Robert Kennedy III will be the speaker at this fall’s first “Lunch with the League” at noon Tuesday, a press release said.

Candidates forum at Clinton Community Center tonight

The League of Women Voters of Oak Ridge has a forum tonight for Anderson County and Oak Ridge political candidates.

The forum starts at 7 p.m. at the Clinton Community Center. It will feature candidates for Anderson County mayor, property assessor, County Commission District 8, School Board District 3, and Oak Ridge City Council.

League schedules Roane, Anderson candidate forums

The League of Women Voters of Oak Ridge has scheduled two forums in July for political candidates in Anderson and Roane counties.

The first forum starts at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, at the Clinton Community Center. Participants could include candidates for Anderson County mayor, property assessor, County Commission District 8, School Board District 3, and Oak Ridge City Council.

The second forum starts at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 12, in the Oak Ridge Civic Center Social Room. The forum could feature candidates for Roane County offices including property assessor, road superintendent, school board districts 5 and 6, as well as the two Oak Ridge City Council candidates.
