The Anderson County Chamber of Commerce has scheduled a Wednesday seminar on integrating tablets into businesses.
Led by Tracy Hibben, the seminar is scheduled from noon to 1 p.m. at the Chamber office at 245 N. Main St. in Clinton.
A press release said two out of three small business owners plan to use tablets in their business in 2013. The question most have is: how?

The Anderson County Chamber of Commerce has hired Diane Ilgner as retail development coordinator.
In a press release, the chamber said it created this position to promote retail growth and increase sales tax revenue for the county.
“As retail development coordinator, Diane will be responsible for retail retention and retail recruitment by gathering data, identifying areas appropriate for retail growth, and developing relationships with brokers, developers, retailers, and business owners,” the press release said.

The Anderson County Beer Board met Tuesday night for a show-cause hearing on the controversial beer permit issued to the Silver Dollar Saloon on Clinton Highway in Claxton and unanimously voted to revoke the bar’s beer permit after numerous irregularities and inconsistencies were found on the application for the permit.
The bar was granted a beer license thanks to a loophole in state laws last year, despite the fact that it is within about 300 feet of a church.

The Anderson County Chamber of Commerce Business Retail Development Council is hosting the second in a series of “Buy Local Mob Scenes” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at ACE Hardware in Clinton.
The purpose of the “Buy Local” Mob is to help the community learn about Chamber members’ products and services.

John Eschenberg, federal project director for the Uranium Processing Facility at the Y-12 National Security Complex, will be the featured speaker at the Anderson County Chamber of Commerce’s annual business luncheon this month.
Eschenberg will provide information on the UPF project and its impact on the East Tennessee economy and the nation’s nuclear security, a press release said. The UPF could cost between $4.2 and $6.5 billion.
The luncheon starts at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at the First Baptist Church Family Life Center in Clinton.

The Anderson County Local Emergency Planning Committee will hold its annual membership meeting on Tuesday at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
There will be a presentation by Radiation Emergency Assistance Center/Training Site (REAC/TS). All Anderson County and Oak Ridge area companies who handle hazardous and radioactive materials or wastes are invited to send a representative, a press release said.

A Feb. 6 seminar at the Anderson County Chamber of Commerce will focus on the 2012 American Relief Act and tax law changes.
The seminar will be presented by J.D. Schlandt, a certified public accountant.

The company that won the contract to manage and operate the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge and the Pantex Plant near Amarillo, Texas, expects to offer jobs to more than 95 percent of the current employees, federal officials said Tuesday.
The number could be affected by voluntary retirements and other departures, National Nuclear Security Administration officials said during a Tuesday afternoon teleconference.
The company that won the five-year contract, Consolidated Nuclear Security LLC, or CNS, is a team that includes Bechtel National Inc. and Lockheed Martin Services Inc. It also includes ATK Launch Systems Inc. and SOC LLC.

SL Tennessee, a company that manufactures automotive parts in Clinton, is expanding their operations, the Anderson County Economic Development Association announced Friday.
The company will lease a 65,000-square-foot building owned by the Hollingsworth Companies in the Eagle Bend Industrial Park. The building will be used primarily for warehousing and distribution and will house about 25 employees, a press release said.

A Jan. 16 seminar at the Anderson County Chamber of Commerce will feature a fitness director who will discuss ways to keep health and wellness resolutions in the new year.
“Every year, millions of Americans make the New Year’s resolutions: increase physical activity, lose weight, eat better, etc.,” a press release said. “Unfortunately, after a few months of the new year, many of those Americans find themselves back into the old habits, and the New Year’s resolutions are done.”
During the seminar, Take Charge Fitness Director Anna Dark will “map out” how people can keep their resolutions and meet their wellness goals, the release said.
