Music Arts will present a faculty recital on Sept. 15 at Grace Lutheran Church in Oak Ridge.

Participating faculty members include Sam Chen, Warren Clark, Jennifer Ownby, Erin Bray, Ilia Steinschneider, Cheryl Scappaticci, Shannnon Hamblen, Lisa Griggs, and Rudolph Nemeth.

Admission to the recital will be free, but donations to the school’s Mary Cox Memorial Scholarship Fund will be appreciated, a press release said.

Here are the instruments the faculty members will play:

  • Chen — trombone,
  • Clark — trumpet,
  • Ownby — oboe,
  • Bray — clarinet,
  • Steinschneider — violin,
  • Scappaticci — voice,
  • Hamblen — guitar, mandolin, fiddle, and bass guitar,
  • Lisa Griggs — voice, and
  • Nemeth — piano.

Music Arts has been offering music instruction to local children, youth, and adult music students for 30 years, the release said. The school provides private professional instruction in piano, woodwind, brass, strings, percussion, and voice, including country instruments such as guitar, fiddle, mandolin, and banjo.

The release said the Mary Cox Memorial Scholarship Fund is named in honor of longtime former instructor Mary Cox, and it offers scholarships to help defray the cost of music lessons for deserving, underprivileged students.

The faculty recital starts at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at Grace Lutheran Church at 131 West Gettysburg Ave. in Oak Ridge.
