Stephen C. Malone, director of the Homeland Defense and Security Information Analysis Center in Oak Ridge, has been selected as a 2014 Distinguished Member of the Chemical Corps of the U.S. Army Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear School, or CBRN.
The Distinguished Member award is extended to living members who served the Corps in their professional lives and continue to serve it in their personal lives, a press release said. Malone has been involved in CBRN activities since the mid-1970s as an officer in the U.S. Army Chemical Corps and later, in private industry positions. He has been an IIa employee and director of HDIAC since June 2013.
HDIAC is managed by Information International Associates for the U.S. Department of Defense.
“The HDIAC leverages the best information and expertise from government, industry, and academia to solve the government’s toughest scientific and technical homeland defense problems,” said IIa owner and Chief Executive Officer Bonnie C. Carroll. “We are pleased that Stephen’s current work, as well as his experience and leadership during the past four decades, is being recognized.”
Malone’s past accomplishments include the development of a U.S. Army Reserve Chemical Force structure that enabled the force to be optimally structured to respond to both domestic and foreign CBRN and weapons of mass destruction events, the press release said. He also provided project oversight to a NATO panel on mitigating the use of CBRN weapons and executed a military exchange CBRN response training program with the U.S. and British armies.
Prior to joining IIa, Malone supported the Joint Staff and executed CBRN strategic planning with numerous government agencies such as the departments of State, Energy, Homeland Security/DNDO, and Justice. He also reviewed and commented on Department of Defense and NATO CBRN/WMD doctrinal and operational documents as well as those of other federal agencies to ensure consistency and compliance with U.S. government policy.
IIa is a woman-owned business that supports information and mission requirements for federal government agencies by providing innovative solutions in knowledge organization and management, information technology, and knowledge exploitation, the press release said.
