Police searching a home on Nevada Circle on Wednesday night allegedly found a half-dozen guns, about 32 grams of what appeared to be marijuana, a small amount of purported crack cocaine, and a tablet identified as Roxicodone, authorities said.
The Oak Ridge Police Department was armed with a search warrant that said all controlled substances found in the home were to be seized as evidence, according to arrest warrants filed in Anderson County General Sessions Court.
They arrested Kayvin Grate, 50, of 139 Nevada Circle at about 10 p.m. Wednesday. He was charged with possessing a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of marijuana for resale, simple possession of crack cocaine, and a drug paraphernalia count. Grate remained jailed on Thursday night, and his bond has been set at $79,000.
Affidavits filed by ORPD Officer John Wilson said Grate had a fully loaded Clerk First LR .22-caliber revolver. Police also allegedly recovered an altered Steven 16-gauge shotgun, Smith and Wesson .357 handgun, Davis Industries .22-caliber derringer, Colt Police Positive .38-caliber pistol, and Ruger LCP .380-caliber handgun. The guns were seized as evidence, the warrants said.
Wilson said the purported marijuana was found in a purse in Grate’s bedroom, the purported crack cocaine was in a can containing coins in his bedroom, and the tablet identified as Roxicodone was in a prescription bottle. The alleged drugs were seized as evidence, and they will be sent to a Tennessee Bureau of Investigation crime lab for analysis, the warrants said.
Police said they also found several boxes of sandwich bags, a measuring cup with white residue, a whisk, and a black digital scale.
