Registration for the 2013 Oak Ridge Recreation and Parks Department’s summer camps is under way. Registration can be completed online with a credit card, or the applicant can complete registration at the Oak Ridge Civic Center with a cash or check payment. Convenience fees will apply for all credit card payments. The city’s summer camp fills up fast, so early registration is advised.

A camp open house will be held on Thursday, June 6, from 5 to 7 p.m. Camp will begin on June 10 and run for eight consecutive weeks, Monday through Friday. Participants should be six to 12 years of age. Five-year-olds who have completed kindergarten are also eligible.

The camp fee is $85 per week, which covers field trip admission, transportation, special events, and a camp T-shirt. There is a $10 per child non-resident fee when applicable. For an additional cost, swimming and tennis lessons will be offered to campers during certain weeks of camp. Dates and fees will be listed on the registration site.

Daily camp activities and special events will take place at the Oak Ridge Civic Center, Bissell Park, and the outdoor Municipal Pool. Field trips will include Oak Ridge Bowling Center, Tri-County Roll Arena, Tinseltown, Frozen Head State Park, Cumberland Mountain State Park, Kentucky Splash Water Park, The Lost Sea, American Museum of Science and Energy, Deep Well Farm, Cool Sports and Tataru’s Gymnastics. For a printable version of the camp calendar and for more information, go to www.oakridgetenn.org and www.orrecparks.org.

For more information, call the Civic Center front desk at (865) 425-3450 or visit the Oak Ridge Recreation and Parks Department’s website.
