Voters are invited to a Meet the Candidates event on Thursday, October 18, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the gymnasium at the Oak Ridge Civic Center.

Democracy for East Tennessee is sponsoring this event so residents of Oak Ridge can become better acquainted with the candidates for offices in the upcoming November city, state, and federal general elections, a press release said. Early voting begins October 17, and the election is Tuesday, November 6.

The offices on the general election ballot in Oak Ridge are Oak Ridge City Council, Oak Ridge Board of Education, Tennessee Senate District 5, Tennessee House of Representatives Districts 32 and 33, U.S. House of Representatives District 3, U.S. Senate, and Tennessee governor.
