The Oak Ridge Police Department is investigating a Friday night shooting in the Scarboro neighborhood, authorities said.

Officers responded to the emergency room at Methodist Medical Center at about 11:44 p.m. Friday to investigate the reported shooting, a City of Oak Ridge press release said.

Police learned that a 19-year-old male had been injured by a gun shot, the press release said. But the victim was reluctant to cooperate with investigating officers, and no witnesses to the shooting were located, authorities said.

“The investigation is ongoing, and no further information will be released at this time,” the release said.

It said the Oak Ridge Police Department encourages anyone that has information about the shooting, or any other crime, to contact the department at (865) 425-4399. Dial 911 if it is an emergency.

To text a tip, simply text “TIP ORPD” followed by your message to 888-777. You may also submit an anonymous online tip at https://local.nixle.com/tip/oak-ridge-police-department/.

More information will be added as it becomes available.

It makes me wonder when people refuse to cooperate and say who the shooter was, but will scream and holler for justice when a different race is committing the crime…it doesn’t make sense.
