During the month of December, First United Methodist Church of Oak Ridge hosted a free community dinner to any and all people in our community who were in need of a home-cooked meal. No questions, no hoops, no requirements…just a time of delicious food and heartfelt fellowship with whomever decided to wander into our doors, a press release said.

Beginning this month, the church, located at 1350 Oak Ridge Turnpike, is going to begin regularly hosting a free community meal on the last Wednesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room.

“We feel that it is a privilege to welcome our brothers and sisters into our facility, to serve them a meal that they might have been hungering for all week, to take the time to sit and dine with them, to hear their stories and let them know that someone cares,” the press release said.

Dates already scheduled for 2017 (fourth Wednesday of the month except where noted) are: January 25, February 22, March 29, April 19 (note: third Wednesday), and May 31.

For more information, please contact Jenny Caughman at (865) 483-4357 or jcaughman@fumcor.org.
