The 12-year-old boy reported missing Thursday afternoon was located Thursday evening.
Police appeared to locate the boy at about 6 p.m. Thursday in the 900 block of West Outer Drive.
A command post had been set up at Big Turtle Park in west Oak Ridge, and K-9 units and the Anderson County Sheriff’s Department had responded.
The Oak Ridge Police Department sent out a notice of the missing child, identified as James Creel, earlier Thursday by text alert.
“We thank the citizens for their assistance,” the ORPD said in a follow-up message.
Shortly after finding the boy on West Outer Drive, officers responded to a hostage situation on Norton Road in central Oak Ridge. Like the case of the missing child, that case also ended peacefully and with no injuries reported.
More information will be added as it becomes available.
