The Oliver Springs Fire Department announced last year that effective October 1, 2016, the department was to be an ISO class 4/4y department. That was an improvement from its previous rating of 6/9.

“This could mean a possible savings on your homeowners insurance if you live within the Town of Oliver Springs,” the Fire Department said. “This is also dependent upon your individual insurance carrier.”

ISO evaluates departments on potential fire loss to give a score on a scale of 1-10, with 1 being the best score, the Oliver Springs Fire Department said.

“It is an overview on the effectiveness of your fire department,” the Fire Department said. “We are proud to report, with the new rating, it places Oliver Springs Fire Department in the top 25 percent of the departments in the State of Tennessee.”

The Fire Department encouraged people to contact their individual insurance agents to see if they may be entitled to a possible savings.

More information will be added as it becomes available.
