Burchfield's and Ray and Fanny Smith

Burchfield’s, located inside the Oak Ridge DoubleTree, is a popular spot for locals like Ray and Fanny Smith. The restaurant is one of only a few Dine and Donate participants to offer breakfast, and there are extensive choices for lunch, dinner, and everything in between. Burchfield’s has been a proud culinary supporter of ADFAC for nine years, dating all the way back to ADFAC’s first Feed the Need event in 2007! (Submitted photo)

In the past 24 months, thousands of breakfasts, lunches and dinners have been enjoyed by members of our community—and all for a good cause. On the second Monday of each month, local citizens are encouraged to eat out at participating Dine and Donate restaurants. The restaurants, in turn, provide a portion of their sales to support Aid to Distressed Families of Appalachian Counties, or ADFAC.

Monday, September 14, wraps up the second full year of Dine and Donate with the following participating restaurants:

  • Burchfield’s in Oak Ridge
  • Gallo Loco in Oak Ridge
  • Gondolier in Clinton
  • Hoskins in Clinton
  • Mediterranean Delight in Oak Ridge
  • Papa Murphy’s in Oak Ridge
  • Razzleberry’s in Oak Ridge
  • Salsarita’s in Oak Ridge

Several businesses sponsored Dine and Donate in 2014-15: Leidos, UT-Battelle, ORNL Federal Credit Union, Oak Ridger, Oak Ridge Today, Courier-News, Enrichment Federal Credit Union, The Erb Agency, J&M’s Butcher Shop, and Mortgage Investors Group all provided cash or in-kind sponsorships to support the event.

“We are so grateful for the compassion and continuing participation of our restaurants, sponsors, and Dine and Donate diners,” said Cande Seay, ADFAC board member and event chair. “Hundreds of our less fortunate neighbors have already received assistance because of Dine and Donate contributions.”

ADFAC is an independent nonprofit agency that was established in 1987, and it exists to serve the basic needs of primarily low-income residents in Anderson and surrounding Appalachian counties. ADFAC’s goal is to help families become stable and self-sufficient through a variety of direct assistance services provided by our Social Services and Affordable Housing programs. ADFAC answers more than 6,000 requests for assistance each year.

ADFAC is currently seeking restaurants and sponsors for 2016.  If you or your business is interested in participating, please contact Jamie LaRose at adfacjamie@bellsouth.net or (865) 425-0256, ext. 7.
