A suspect in a Friday night hit-and-run in Oak Ridge is in custody in Morgan County, and more charges are pending in Oak Ridge, authorities said.

The hit-and-run involving a pedestrian was reported at about 8:34 p.m. Friday at West Outer Drive and North Illinois Avenue, the Oak Ridge Police Department said.

“Witness and victim statements were taken, which positively identified the vehicle and driver, who was later apprehended by the Tennessee Highway Patrol,” the ORPD said. “The vehicle (that) hit the pedestrian was allegedly speeding and driving without the use of headlights at the time the accident occurred.”

The ORPD said the victim suffered minor bruises and contusions and was released from the hospital Friday evening.

More information will be added as it becomes available.
