TSSAA penalizes Clinton, Knox Central soccer teams after brawl

Information from WYSH Radio

The TSSAA has penalized Clinton and Knox Central high schools for a fight that occurred late in the Bobcats’ 4-2 win Monday night in the District 3-AAA soccer tournament.

The fight broke out with about five minutes to play, apparently after some jawing back and forth between players. Central suffered the most immediate penalty, forfeiting the rest of its season, including Thursday night’s scheduled semifinal game at Gibbs.

The Bobcats will also be placed on probation for two years and cannot play in the postseason in 2015. No Bobcats were suspended.

Clinton’s penalty was similar—probation and a 2015 postseason ban—but TSSAA has also recommended that every Dragon involved in the donnybrook be suspended for two games next season and that the school pay a fine. Clinton administrators say the school will appeal the decision, saying that they have audio, video, and photographic proof to support their stance.
