DOE DOD Statement Signing

DOE-ORO Manager Larry Kelly, accompanied by retired Maj. Gen. Jack D’Araujo, ESGR Tennessee Area Chair, recently signs a Statement of Support with the Department of Defense Committee for Employer Support of Guard and Reserve (ESGR) affirming ORO’s support for its employees that serve in the National Guard and Reserve.

The U.S. Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge Office Manager Larry Kelly has signed a Statement of Support with the Department of Defense Committee for Employer Support of Guard and Reserve, or ESGR. The statement affirms ORO’s support for its employees that serve in the National Guard and Reserve.

ORO Manager Larry Kelly, along with retired Maj. Gen. Jack D’Araujo, ESGR Tennessee area chair, and retired Brig. Gen. Jim Mungenast, vice chair for Tennessee’s DOD Committee for the ESGR organization, participated in the signing.

“I am extremely proud to sign this Statement of Support with the DOD,” Kelly said. “It amplifies our commitment to support all of our dedicated employees serving in the National Guard and Reserve, as well as other opportunities for guardsmen, reservists, and veterans.”

The Statement of Support states that the organization and its employees will recognize, honor and enforce the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act, or USERRA; support providing managers and supervisors with the tools required to effectively manage employees in the Guard and Reserve; appreciate the values and unique skills service members bring to the workforce encouraging opportunities to employ guardsmen, reservists, and veterans; and continually recognize the country’s service members and their families.

The DOD-ESGR office was established in 1972 to promote cooperation and understanding between reserve component service members and their civilian employers and to assist in the resolution of conflicts arising from an employee’s military commitment, a press release said.
