Altrusa’s annual spaghetti dinner, auction on Wednesday

Altrusa will have its fundraising Annual Spaghetti Dinner and Auction on Wednesday evening at the DoubleTree Hotel on South Illinois Avenue.

“Enjoy dinner, wine, and entertainment, a press release said.

The dinner, silent auction, and musical entertainment are from 5-6:30 p.m., and a live auction with Bear Stephenson will start at 6:30.

Tickets for the dinner are $12 each for adults, and $6 for children 12 and under and are available from Altrusa members or at the door. The dinner includes salad, spaghetti with meat sauce, breadsticks, and cookies. Proceeds from the evening raise funds for the Altrusa Foundation and support club operations. Altrusa International of Oak Ridge is an affiliate of Altrusa International, and it conducts community service projects that relate to the club’s mission of literacy and community service. Examples of our community service projects include support of literacy programs in partnership with Breakfast Rotary, Partners in Education with the Oak Ridge Preschool, providing ADFAC with literacy-related and personal care items, providing free books at the Oak Ridge Free Medical Clinic, providing Methodist Medical Center with literacy-related items for children, and granting scholarships to women in the community to further their education.

The club’s newest service project is Women of the World (WOW) conducted in partnership with First Presbyterian Church, where members provide networking, support, and information on community resources and English as a second language course for international women living in Oak Ridge.
