Note: This is a copy of a letter sent by Anderson County Commission Chairman Chuck Fritts to other commissioners this summer, before the August meeting. The Commission is scheduled to elect a chairman and vice chairman on Monday, Sept. 16.
Fellow Commissioners,
It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost another full year since I’ve been serving as your chairman. It’s been a very busy year with a lot of tough issues that (have come) before us. I truly believe that we “all†have done an excellent job and have served the citizens of Anderson County extremely well.
It’s been an honor to serve as your chairman this past year. I have worked hard and put in a lot of time to not only improve myself, but also to try to improve the efficiency and flow of our meetings. We have finally made improvements to Room 312, which will improve the quality of our meetings, not only for our citizens who are actually attending our meeting, but for our citizens at home watching on Channel 95. Also, by finally putting a TV in the hallway, citizens who make an effort to attend our meeting can still see what is taking place even if they can’t find a place inside our meeting room.
I have tried to attend as many functions across our county as possible because I wanted our citizens to know that by being your chairman, I represent all of Anderson County, not just my district. From groundbreakings to pancake breakfasts, to chili suppers, I wanted this commission to be represented as much as possible and as much as my time would allow.
I’m also still serving on the board of directors for Tennessee County Commissioner Association. This allows me to represent our commission and our county on this very important TCCA board.
This has been a very tough year and we’ve taken on a lot of major issues, and I truly believe we’ve acted in what was best for “all†of Anderson County. I believe we are building up a lot of steam and are ready to move forward to face another year. This coming year doesn’t appear to get any easier, but I know we’ll do what’s in the best interest for the citizens of this great county. Together we can work to make Anderson County a great county for our citizens to live and raise their families in.
Unfortunately, I won’t be able to attend the August session of the Anderson County Commission. That date falls on Aug. 19, and that date will be mine and Debbie’s 36th wedding anniversary. I have given up birthdays and numerous other occasions to avoid missing a commission meeting, but I feel I owe being with my wife on this very special day in our marriage. I hope you and the citizens of this county will understand why I will miss this August session. I know Robin Biloski, our vice chairman, will do an outstanding job during my absence.
I have greatly enjoyed serving as your chairman this past year, and I hope you like the work I’ve been doing and the way our meetings have been handled. We’ve been working hard to continually improve the efficiency of our meetings to hopefully not waste your time and the time of our citizens. Thanks again for showing me that vote of confidence last year when you re-elected me as your chairman.
Commissioners Mike Cox, Myron Iwanski, and Mark Alderson were honored by this commission by being allowed to serve as your chairman for three consecutive years before stepping aside. At the September 2013 commission meeting, I ask that you bestow upon me that same honor and once again extend that vote of confidence and allow me to continue to serve as your chairman for 2013/2014. I look forward toward another opportunity to serving you during this upcoming year. If I can ever be of any assistance, let me know. Thanks in advance for your confidence and support.
Chuck Fritts is one of two Anderson County commissioners representing District 1, which includes Claxton and Bull Run.
