Local volunteers have organized a cash mob at Emma Lou Cafe and Bakery through Saturday. The bakery, pictured above during a ribbon-cutting ceremony last year, is off South Illinois Avenue near the Oak Ridge Bowling Center.

Local volunteers have organized a cash mob this week at Emma Lou Bakery and Cafe. It continues through Saturday.

Emma Lou is at 244 A S. Illinois Ave., near the Oak Ridge Bowling Center and Pizza Hut. The phone number is (865) 481-4811.

The store is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

The cash mob is one of several this week. There was one at Razzleberry’s Ice Cream Lab and Kitchen on Wednesday organized by ORNL Federal Credit Union, and the Anderson County Chamber of Commerce has one Friday at Clinch River Yarn Co. in Clinton.

A cash mob is a group of people who assemble at a local business to buy items, supporting local businesses and the community.
