The Knoxville Police Department on Friday arrested a Knoxville man suspected of stealing a school bus in Knox County that was later found in Anderson County.

The suspect, Hillman Greenlee, 61, “sold” the 1998 Blue Ribbon Coach Bus for $1,200 to another person while the owner of the bus was out of town, according to a statement from KPD spokesman Darrell DeBusk. The value of the bus is about $2,000.

Greenlee was arrested Friday afternoon at his Lawson Avenue home in Knoxville by KPD Investigator Jeff Sellers and charged with one count of felony theft, DeBusk said.

The bus, Bus No. 117, was reported stolen from the owner’s home on Prosser Road in Knox County on Wednesday. It was found within a few hours in southern Anderson County.

On Wednesday, DeBusk said nothing suspicious was found in the bus when it was recovered, it was not damaged, and investigators were trying to determine how far it was driven and why it was taken.
