Norris Lake cleanup scheduled

Information from WYSH Radio

Volunteers from Anderson, Campbell, Claiborne, Grainger, and Union Counties are needed for a Norris Lake cleanup on Saturday, March 23, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

During past cleanups, volunteers have collected and properly disposed of typical household trash, tires, couches, televisions, kitchen appliances, and construction materials including siding and shingles. All of these items would have been in Norris Lake if not for these volunteers.

Join them and help this year. This year, there will be several “Launch Sites” located in each of the five counties, which can be found by visiting www.lakenorris.org/lakecleanup.

Be sure to bring gloves and wear the appropriate foot wear. Garbage bags will be provided. Anyone with a boat is encouraged to come out and help because the largest amount of garbage can be found on the islands. All launch sites have access for boats to launch.

Also, if you are interested in nominating a site on Norris Lake where there is a lot of trash, you can visit the website at www.lakenorris.org/lakecleanup and nominate the site to be cleaned up.

Norris Lake has approximately 800 miles of shoreline, so many volunteers are needed. This information can be shared with others who might volunteer, including members of social clubs, church groups, or associations.

If you are unable to help with the spring cleanup, mark your calendars for the fall cleanup on Sept. 28.

The information to volunteers can be found at www.lakenorris.org/lakecleanup or you can call toll free to (800) 524-3602.

This story brought to you through an agreement between Oak Ridge Today and WYSH. See more local news headlines on the WYSH website at http://www.wyshradio.com/local_news.html.
