Project Linus of East Tennessee and the Children’s Defense Fund Haley Farm will host a Blanket Bee on Saturday at Haley Farm in Clinton.

The Blanket Bee is a gathering of friends, family, co-workers, and others to knit, crochet, quilt, sew, or make a no-sew fleece blanket for a child in need, a press release said.

Saturday’s event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The purpose is to make Project Linus blankets, share techniques for making blankets, encourage people to volunteer with Project Linus, and to raise awareness about Project Linus and the Children’s Defense Fund, a press release said.

“The bee will include plenty of demonstrations on making blankets, and visitors can make their own Project Linus bookmark or notecard,” it said.

Project Linus is a nonprofit organization that provides child-friendly handmade blankets to children in traumatic situations. Blankets are given to children who are in the hospital, undergoing chemotherapy, living in a shelter, healing from an act of violence or abuse, or who have lost a parent in the military, among other things.
