Aid to Distressed Families of Appalachian Counties, also known as ADFAC, will celebrate its 25th anniversary on Monday.

The ceremony is scheduled from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 1051 Oak Ridge Turnpike.

The free celebration will include catered food, music, a live auction, balloon art, a raffle, and more, a press release said. Display tables will host historical as well as current program information.

Monday’s celebration will also include the ADFAC Annual Meeting, when new board members will be elected and outgoing board members recognized for their service.

The public is invited, but ADFAC has asked those who want to attend to make a reservation by sending an e-mail to Jamie Olson at adfacjamie@bellsouth.net or calling her at (865) 425-0256, ext. 108. Reservations can also be made through the website http://www.adfac.org/25thcelebration.html.

A press release said the live auction will include items donated by local residents and businesses, including a Raku vase, artwork, a two-night stay at a cabin in the Great Smoky Mountains, and a gourmet dinner for eight. The live auction begins at 6:30 p.m.

In addition, ADFAC volunteers, staff, and a few businesses are selling $5 tickets for a raffle that includes theme baskets donated by area clubs, businesses, and people, the press release said. The themes are “Basket of Knowledge,” “Bass Pro Shops,” “Cat and Dog Care,” “Fairy Garden Planter,” “Hand Knit Items,” “Massage Gift Certificate,” and “Vera & Vino.”

Raffle tickets can be purchased at both TNBank locations through 5 p.m. on Oct. 5 or at the ADFAC website http://www.adfac.org/raffle.html. In addition, raffle tickets will be sold at the event on Oct. 8.

ADFAC is an independent nonprofit agency and a United Way partner agency. It serves the basic needs of primarily low-income residents in Anderson and surrounding Appalachian counties. ADFAC’s goal is to help families become stable and self-sufficient through assistance services provided social services and affordable housing programs.
