A 27-year-old Bradyville man has been charged with child abuse and aggravated assault after his girlfriend said he kicked and hit her six-year-old son in an Oak Ridge apartment and threatened her with a knife.

The woman said she found her son on the floor crying in the food department at the Oak Ridge Walmart early Saturday morning, according to Anderson County court records. She alleged that red marks she found on the back of her son’s neck were made by her boyfriend, Clayton K. Williams.

The woman said she and Williams later went to her sister’s apartment at Callaghan Towers on Fairbanks Road. The woman alleged Williams kicked and hit her son while the boy was forced to sit in a bedroom corner, a court affidavit said.

The woman said she yelled at Williams to stop, but he allegedly turned toward her with a knife in his hand and said, “Stay out of it, or you all will get it,” a court affidavit said.

The woman reported the incident after Willams fell asleep. Williams called her phone 31 times in less than an hour, and he allegedly threatened her in two voice mails, saying she “better come back and get him” and “him and his brother will be coming after her,” the affidavit said.

Williams remained jailed in the Anderson County Detention Facility on Wednesday afternoon.

Bradyville is in middle Tennessee, near Murfreesboro.
