The University of Tennessee Arboretum Society will host a free butterfly and insect program at 10 a.m. August 11 at the UT Arboretum.

Naturalist Kris Light will present the program, which is open to the public.

“Insects are all around us,” Light said. “Many of these six-legged creatures have fascinating ways of protecting themselves, eating and interactions with plants and other animals.”

After the presentation, nets and jars will be available for catching and releasing the insects in the gardens outdoors.

The UT Arboretum is located at 901 S. Illinois Ave.
