Registration is open for the 2021 Summer Reading Program at the Clinton Public Library.
“This year’s theme is ‘Tails and Tales,’ so join us at the library for a summer filled with exciting programs and activities,” a press release said.
The library, partnering with the Anderson County Animal Shelter, will kick off Summer Reading 2021 on Tuesday, June 8, with a special adoption fair on the front library lawn.

The Clinton Public Library will host Bookaroo, a unique music festival finale with fun for all ages, for its summer reading finale, a press release said.
Bookaroo will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, July 20.
“Join us as we celebrate with a music festival-themed summer reading finale!” the press release said. “We will be doing rockstar makeovers complete with a photo opportunity to show off your new style. There will also be games, water activities, face painting, cotton candy, and more! We have fun for the whole family as we finish our summer reading with a rocking evening.”

On Friday, May 13, Education Commissioner Candice McQueen announced the recipients of the 2016 Read to be Ready Summer Grant.
Earlier this year, in conjunction with the launch of the statewide Read to be Ready Campaign, the Dollar General Literacy Foundation gave a $1 million gift to the department to award for summer reading programs during the next three years. This spring, the department received more than 200 proposals and has selected 12 summer programs from across the state to receive funding, a press release said.
“With less than half of the state’s third-graders currently reading on grade level, we must approach reading in new and innovative ways,†McQueen said in the press release. “Read to be Ready summer grants will support individual communities as they tailor their approach to reading to meet the needs of the families they serve.â€
Read to be Ready is a coordinated approach to move third-grade reading proficiency in Tennessee to 75 percent by 2025. The campaign seeks to raise awareness about the importance of reading, unite efforts to address the reading gap, highlight best practices, and build partnerships. Read to be Ready summer grants are designed to support students even after the last day of school, the press release said.

The 2014 Summer Reading Club at the Clinton Public Library will feature a variety of science-themed, educational, and fun programs to help fill your summer days. Children from birth through rising 12th grade are invited to join the free Reading Club that will run from June 1 to July 26.
This year, children will explore science through reading as the Clinton Public Library presents “Fizz, Boom, Read!†as its summer reading theme. Children may register for the Reading Club anytime from June 1 to July 7 at the Library or on the Library’s website at www.clintonpubliclibrary.org. At registration, children will receive a reading log to track the books they read throughout the summer. Children who reach the reading goal set for their age group can claim a special prize at the Water Science Fun Finale on July 19 at 1 p.m. or anytime during the following week. They will also be entered into a drawing for other great prizes.
Summer Reading Club programs will kick off on June 9 at 1 p.m. with Royal Magic Events. It will be an afternoon of face painting, balloon animals, and magic! Other special events for the whole family include a presentation by Mr. Bond the Science Guy on July 7 at 1 p.m. and a Lego Club for the entire family every Thursday at 4 p.m. [Read more…]
