Robert “Bobby” Curtis Mashburn, age 67, of Oak Ridge, passed away Tuesday, April 22, at Briarcliff Health Care Center, after a lengthy battle with his second bout of cancer.
He was born September 16, 1946, in Asheville, North Carolina, the son of Mary Ola Gunter and Curtis Frank Mashburn.
Bobby was a 1965 graduate of Oak Ridge High School. Following high school, he joined the Tennessee National Guard, where he served for nine years. He retired from the Y-12 plant at BWXT, where he was a production management specialist.
He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks, Lodge #1684, the Oak Ridge Sportsman’s Association, the Oak Ridge Country Club, and the National Rifle Association. Bobby was an avid University of Tennessee Vols football fan and was just as passionate about playing golf and fishing. In his early years, he was a football coach for the Oak Ridge Boys Club.
