Sophia—I am of course, Sophia Loren’s namesake because I am sooo beautiful! I’m six years old, well-mannered on a leash, and would make a fantastic family pet!

If you will remember, no matter how old Sophia is, she is a beautiful as ever. She is so calm and just wants to be loved. Will you make her your new best friend?

The Oak Ridge Animal Shelter is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. It’s located at 395 Belgrade Road in east Oak Ridge. The phone number is (865) 425-3423.

To all the Lovers of Luscious Long-haired Lovelies Fan Club, I am the incredibly beautiful and sweet Shelby. I have a stunning mingle of lots of amazing colors.

I am a real lover too. I am not accustomed to steel walls, so I certainly expect a castle fit for a princess soon. Can you accommodate that request…this week is not early enough for me! Tuesday when they open would be perfect!

Here’s to my forever family, with all the royal smooches I can muster. =^..^= [Read more…]

Pet of the Day: Angie

I’m Angie, and my situation is sad. I’m skinny, and was covered in ticks when I came in as an owner surrender. I have no clue why I am here.

The volunteers could sing: “Oh, Angie, don’t you weep, all your kisses still taste sweet. I hate that sadness in your eyes.”

I’m only two years old, a black and tan coonhound mix that might be a better partner than a hunting dog. The season is over, so I probably got dumped.

I’m a little shy and confused because no one taught me how to walk on a leash, but I am making huge strides daily! I would be the most gratitude-filled best friend. [Read more…]

I am Sam, a 12-year-old Border Collie Mix. I can certainly show you the calmer side of life. How about a peaceful walk in the neighborhood with me? I would love nothing more than to retire with dignity, with an owner that is as faithful to me as I would be to you.

I should not be here, but such is life. I just want a lap to lay my head on. Won’t you consider being my best and final owner?

Icky is the name I grew up with, but it is sooo wrong! I need someone to love me and look at me differently—and please change my name! How would you like to grow up with a name like that? Ricky, Nicky, or even Licky would be better for me!

I am available now. I’m a six-year-old Chihuahua mix with tons of love to give you! Just ask the people who are so kind to walk me! I don’t belong here, please?

Look at this handsome gentleman! He’s calm, proud and handsome. Hello there! I’m Butch, Milo’s partner in a non-crime! I’m about two years old, and I am a good boy, good on a leash, and I like everyone! Don’t you like my pose? I really want to meet you! I like to bark at the other dogs when they walk by, but that’s just because I’m bored, ya know. I’m pretty danged harmless and just need a buddy. Won’t you be mine?

Now why would they name me Honey Bun? Could it be ’cause I look like one and am sweet as one? The wonderful shelter folks gave me a great bath, but I need a Mommy or Daddy who will stroke my soft coat and let me give them some of my sweet love! I’m a Bearded Collie, and I just got here on May 14, so you better hurry!

Sterling is still at the shelter and really needs out. We have featured her before as our pet of the day, but we are doing it again because we want her to have a future. We have a sponsor who will pay half of her fee for adoption to a good home. She is sweet and friendly and needs a little help getting a home. Please help her.

I am one little “ham.” When Miss Maggie wanted to take my picture, I just rolled over and showed her my real personality. I thought my gray fur against my blue blankie just made the color “Pop!” I also have the most adorable little ears. I really want to go home and have my very own special person to love me. Will you be my forever human?…. [Read more…]

Hey ladies, my name is Alice, but I DO NOT do housekeeping, if anyone remembers the Brady Bunch! I came in with my brothers Kyle and Zebro, and will be available on Saturday, May 2. I’m a little beagle mix puppy.

I think if I was one of the boys, they probably would have named me Radar. Aren’t my ears just beautiful? Obviously, I’m very proud of them! [Read more…]

I am just one cutsie girlfriend waiting on my limo to take me out of here…I frankly am looking for my best friend, and I am rather selective. All applications will be considered, but only if you are into fun times, cuddling, and furballs. Are you feeling the love?

Sasha has been in the shelter since March. That is a long time to sit in a small cage and a long time in a full shelter.
