Boys and Girls Club has Valentines Masquerade Gala tonight

The Boys and Girls Clubs of the Clinch Valley (formerly Oak Ridge) will hold its Valentines Masquerade Gala tonight at the Rothchild Catering and Conference Center in Knoxville.

This is the largest fundraiser of the year for the club, said Donyell “D.J.” Jones, the club’s chief professional officer.

“The proceeds from this event allow us to continue all of our programs at the club with a larger amount earmarked for our after-school homework help, Teen Programs, and STEM education opportunities,” Jones said.

Taste of Oak Ridge on Sept. 22 in Jackson Square

The fourth annual Taste of Oak Ridge on Sept. 22 in Jackson Square will feature food samples from local restaurants, music, and the opportunity to help a local medical facility, a press release said.

Restaurants that will take part include Dean’s Restaurant, Gondolier, The Market House, Razzleberry Lab and Kitchen, The Soup Kitchen, Time Out Deli, and The Other One. RNfit Weight Management will be offering samples as well.

Secret City Festival begins today

The Secret City Festival begins today at 11:30 a.m. and goes through 7 p.m. Saturday at the Oak Ridge Civic Center.

It features children’s activities, a youth area, music, food, history exhibits, bus tours, arts and crafts, and a World War II re-enactment.

ORAU exceeded its goal of raising $100,000 in donations as part of its internal annual giving campaign that benefits the United Way and Community Shares nonprofit organizations. ORAU has raised more than $1 million over the past 10 years through this campaign. A total of $126,839 was pledged during the 2024 ORAU Annual Giving Campaign. Employees donate via payroll deduction and could earmark their donation for United Way, Community Shares or both. ORAU has remained a strong pillar in the community for more than 75 years, and we encourage our employees to consider participating in our annual giving campaign each year to help our less fortunate neighbors in need, said ORAU President and CEO Andy Page.
