A 25-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of a woman who appeared to have been stabbed and was knocking on doors in Clinton asking for help early Saturday morning, authorities said.

Kieth Pittman is being held at the Anderson County Detention Facility in Clinton. The Clinton Police Department said the victim, Heather McKamey, 22, was believed to be a mother of three, but the children were not home at the time of the incident.

Clinton police officers responded to a report of a disturbance at 301 Park Ave. at about 2:25 a.m. Saturday. The home is a residence within the Clinton Public Housing system.
