Calling all divas! Get together your girlfriends, your daughters, your mothers, and grandmothers, and come out for a day of pampering!

We have all been touched by cancer in some way. Some have fought the battle personally, and others have watched loved ones and friends go through the fight.

The American Cancer Society is making great strides in finding a cure for this devastating disease. They have come a long way, but still have much to do. This is where you come in. We would like to invite you to our first event called Divas for a Cure. The event will support the Relay for Life of Oak Ridge, and it is presented by team Got Hope. [Read more…]

Senior Citizen Appreciation Day in Clinton

Several organizations and businesses have organized a Senior Citizen Appreciation Day today (Tuesday, October 7) in Clinton.

It’s today (Tuesday, October 7) from 11 a.m.-4 p.m., rain or shine, at The Underwood Pavilion at the Clinton Fairgrounds.

Join organizers for a fun-filled day of music, games, free barbecue lunch, door prizes, flu shots, blood pressure checks, and lots of information on health issues, and health insurance, a press release said. There will be entertainment by Clinton’s own “Golden Girls” at 2 p.m. “You won’t want to miss this!” the press release said. [Read more…]

Willow Brook Elementary announces new lunch, breakfast program

Willow Brook Elementary School has announced a new breakfast and lunch program.

The school is implementing a new option available to select schools in Tennessee that participate in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs, an Oak Ridge Schools press release said. It is called the Community Eligibility Provision, or CEP, and it starts this school year. This is the same program that has allowed breakfast to be offered to all students at no cost.

In a CEP school, all students receive a nutritious breakfast and lunch at no cost, regardless of family income. Willow Brook is currently the only school in the Oak Ridge School District that meets the qualifications for the Community Eligibility Provision, the press release said. [Read more…]
