Obituary: Linda L. Patchett Brown

Linda L. Patchett Brown passed away at the age of 76 on July 29, 2018, at her home in Oak Ridge after a long 10-year fight against metastatic breast cancer. She never gave up, but finally lost the fight.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Walter K. Brown; two sons, David Walter Brown and wife Amy Jean and their children, Tanner, Savannah, and Sierra, and Roger Kermit Brown and children, Elias and Gabriel; and her favorite dog, “Sugar,” who went to work every day with her.

She is also survived by sister, Patricia Garver and husband Billy and their children, Jason and Angie; brother, Larry Kermit Patchett and wife Mary Lou and their son, Lance, and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and their families in Casey, Illinois.

Linda was raised in Casey, Illinois, by parents Kermit and Eileen Patchett, who are both deceased. [Read more…]

Linda Brown Realty merging with Crye-Leike Realtors on Monday

Crye-Leike Realtors has purchased the Linda Brown Realty building, and the real estate companies will merged, effective Monday, Linda Brown said this weekend.

“This will allow the companies to grow in our market,” Brown said in a Facebook post.

She said the name will be Crye-Leike Realtors effective Monday, August 1.

“Very little is changing except the name and signage,” Brown said. “I will continue as the managing broker just as I have been; my agents will remain. We are excited about all of the technology upgrades we will have and continuing training to stay up to date with the rapidly changing business world.” [Read more…]

Roane State Foundation High Tea to raise funds for student scholarships

More tea, Lord Crawley?

If you enjoy the PBS hit “Downton Abbey,” then take a moment to experience a taste of manor life at the Roane State Community College Foundation’s Upstairs/Downstairs High Tea.

The High Tea will begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 24, at the Whitestone Country Inn in Kingston.

Tickets are $50 for individuals and $75 for couples, and they will go on sale Monday, January 5. Table sponsorships are available. Proceeds will be used for student scholarships. [Read more…]

Members of the Oak Ridge Breakfast Rotary Club’s Christmas Angels and friends and family met at Linda Brown Realty on Saturday morning to load vans and SUVs with Christmas gifts for families in need.

“Thanks to all who participated and thanks especially to Linda Brown and Nancy Donsbach for organizing the effort,” photographer D. Ray Smith said. “Linda has graciously made her office into ‘Christmas Angel Central’ again as she has for the past several years. I well remember when my grandkids were young and they came with me to distribute gifts to three families. My grandsons still recall that experience with fondness at each Christmas gathering of the Smith family!”
