George E. Googe
Mr. George E. Googe, age 86, of Oliver Springs, passed away at his home on Tuesday, March 24.
He was born in Coalfield and was a member of Middle Creek Baptist Church.Â
He was a disabled veteran, serving our country in the U.S. Army for six years. His unit, the 24th Infantry Division, was one of the first to be deployed to Korea. This unit had been retired, but has recently been re-activated in Fort Jackson, S.C. George was very proud of his military career and continued to support it by serving as a member of the VFW, Korean War Association, American Legion, and was a life member of the DAV and DAVA.
