The 18th Annual Big Ed’s Memorial Golf Tournament on Friday, April 26, will benefit Community Mediation Services of Anderson Country.

It will provide participants a great way to give back to the youth and families in our community while having a great day of golf, a press release said.

You can join Big Ed’s Pizza and Community Mediation Services for the golf tournament on Friday, April 26, at the beautiful and challenging Oak Ridge Country Club, the press release said.

The tournament will start at 8:30 a.m. April 26 in a scramble format. Golfers will get a complimentary breakfast, beverage carts, and a smoked barbecue lunch provided by Big Ed’s. Prize contests for participants will be awarded along with a hole-in-one grand prize. Free Big Ed’s shirts and golf towels for all golfers are included, the press release said. An on-site silent auction will be available.

The Big Ed’s Memorial Golf Tournament on April 28 will benefit Community Mediation Services of Anderson Country, providing participants a great way to give back to the youth and families in the community while having a great day of golf, a press release said.

It’s the 16th Annual Big Ed’s Memorial Golf Tournament. It will be on Friday, April 28, at the Oak Ridge Country Club.

“Oak Ridge Country Club provides a beautiful and challenging setting for all golfers,” the press release said.

The Tournament is a two-session, scramble format with two flights: 8 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Golfers will get a complimentary breakfast, beverage carts, and a smoked barbecue lunch. Prize contests for participants in each flight will be awarded and a Hole-in-One Grand Prize will be available. Free Big Ed’s shirts and golf towels for all golfers are included. A Silent Auction will be held in conjunction with the Tournament. Auction items will be available for viewing online at www.peacefulresolution.org.

You can start your golf tournament season in April and help a nonprofit organization that helps young people and families. The 15th Annual Big Ed’s Memorial Golf Tournament on Friday, April 29, will benefit Community Mediation Services of Anderson Country.

The golf tournament will be held at the Oak Ridge Country Club. The ORCC Golf Course provides a “beautiful and challenging setting for golfers as well as allowing participants a great way to give back to the community through Community Mediation Services’ work with youths and families,” a press release said.

The tournament is a two-session, scramble format with two flights: 8 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. A new Chevrolet, provided by Sexton Automotive Group, will be the grand prize for the hole-in-one, the press release said. Complimentary continental breakfasts, beverage carts, and a smoked barbecue lunch, as well as prize contests for golfers, will be available. Free shirts for all golfers are included.

The early registration deadline is Friday, April 22. You can register early for $100 per player and $400 per team, and for $125 per player and $500 per team after April 22 or at the door. [Read more…]

Community Mediation has fall training for volunteer mediators

Community Mediation Services of Anderson County has early fall training for those interested in becoming a volunteer mediator.

“You will learn new skills while you help others,” a press release said.

“CMS’s four mediation programs make very real differences in the lives of youth and families in our community,” the release said. “Our mediators say amazing things happen at the mediation table when people arrive to discuss often difficult issues and leave with a solution they have all agreed upon.”

Training for Basic Mediation Skills is scheduled for Friday, August 21, from 5-9 p.m. and Saturday, August 22, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. [Read more…]

Golfers! Spring is finally here, and so is the 14th Annual Big Ed’s Memorial Golf Tournament on Friday, April 24.

The Big Ed’s tournament is a 14-year-long tradition in Anderson County. There is a lot happening in Oak Ridge Today.

The events include a treasure hunt at the Oak Ridge outdoor pool on Providence Road from 9 a.m.-12 p.m., a Mutt Strutt at PetSafe Dog Park (at Big Turtle Park) from 10 a.m.-12 p.m., Taste of Oak Ridge from 4-10 p.m. at the new Oak Ridge Universalist Church on Oak Ridge Turnpike, and a concert featuring Mark O’Connor and the Oak Ridge Symphony at 7:30 p.m. at Oak Ridge High School.

There’s also a pancake breakfast from 8-10 a.m. at Applebee’s for ORHS Cross Country Boosters, a Community Mediation Services garage sale from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Eagle building on Oak Ridge Turnpike, and Tennessee Promise signup event for high school seniors from 10 a.m-2 p.m. at the Roane State Community College campus in Oak Ridge.

Community Mediation Services has Giant Garage Sale this weekend

Community Mediation Services of Anderson County, or CMS, is having its annual Giant Garage Sale on Friday and Saturday.

The garage sale is scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the yellow Eagle building at 1650 Oak Ridge Turnpike.

For more than 28 years, CMS has helped hundreds of juveniles and families come up with their own solutions to difficult conflicts and concerns, using well-trained, community volunteer mediators, a press release said. This fall, in addition to its three other mediation programs, CMS will be working with the Anderson County Schools on school attendance (truancy) issues. [Read more…]

Reminder: Juvenile Court judge candidate forum tonight

There will be a candidate forum featuring the two men running for Anderson County Juvenile Court judge on Tuesday, July 8, at the Clinton Public Library from 6 to 7 p.m. The forum is being hosted by Community Mediation Services (CMS) and Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of the Tennessee Heartland.

The candidates are Republican Brian Hunt and Democrat Michael Clement. Both men will be given the chance to address the crowd and will take a few questions from the audience during the forum.

The doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the public is encouraged to attend.
